Last week I saw a quote from Arthur Pink, an old English Bible teacher. This quote left me in awe, if I must say. It answered a question I had had for some time but didn't know how to phrase.

The quote said

“ The nature of Christ's salvation is woefully misrepresented by the present-day evangelist. He announces a Saviour from Hell rather than a Saviour from sin. And that is why so many are fatally deceived, for there are multitudes who wish to escape the Lake of fire who have no desire to be delivered from their carnality and worldliness.”

[ Moment of Silence]

Wow. If I was in his congregation when he said this I would be “ mhmming”, nodding, snapping my fingers which would transition into a clap, saying "wordwordword" and even be on my feet. What a statement!

The quote is pretty self-explanatory but I just want to center today’s post on the idea of

“what are we really saved from?”

1 Peter 2:24

“ He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

We all know this, we know Jesus died for our sins. But I think, one thing we forget is Jesus died to save us from our sins/ sinful nature, not necessarily the Lake of fire.

This is very striking to me because it makes me wonder,

“How dangerous or deadly is our sinful nature that Jesus had to die a brutal death to save us from it? “

Our sinful nature is horrific because staying in that state leads to eternal damnation, first of all. Secondly, living in a sinful manner results in separation from God and spiritual death here on earth. Sometimes, I feel as though we water-down the term spiritual death or the idea of being separated from God but words cannot describe how devastating or scary such states are. Being spiritually dead is as intense as physical death. When spiritually dead, you cannot act in the spiritual realm so if anything attacks you, you cannot respond. Now, someone may think that’s not a big deal but you have to remember that physical manifestations are as a result of spiritual activity so your spiritual death would be displayed in your physical life and can potentially ruin a lot.

We must not be comfortable in our sinful nature because Jesus has shown us why to forsake it and pursue righteousness. Christ has not only saved you from hell but from the sinful nature that would send you straight to hell. Christ has given us freedom from the things that once held us captive so let us live as such. Jesus wants you to understand how scary and serious sin is so do not play with it. Sin is not your friend.

Dear Lord,

Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross to save me. Lord, words cannot describe how grateful I am for you. You are my everything Jesus. I pray that you open my eyes to see the gravity of sin and what settling in sin can lead me to. Help me Lord to pursue righteousness and live a life for you only. Take the glory in my life. In Jesus’ name.

Amen

Scenario
You went for a Christian event and the presence of the Holy Spirit was so strong. At that moment, you felt so close to God.Some days after the event, that fire you had from the event vanishes and it seems as though you’re back where you left off.

As Christians, it is our daily duty to ask for fresh fire or a fresh wind. This is simply a fresh outpouring of the Holy Ghost. Daily, we are being sanctified. Our minds are being renewed and our hearts are being moulded into that of Christ’s. The Holy Spirit does all of this and we need to ask Him to fill us up each and every day.

Why we need a fresh fire/wind

In Matthew 6:34, Jesus makes it known that each day has its own trouble but asking for a fresh wind from the Spirit of God will strengthen us for these battles.

Having a fresh fire from the Holy Spirit allows you to always be in your natural state ( close to the Father). Man was made for communion with the Father so when we aren’t doing that, we are not fulfilling the purpose we were created for. However, having a fresh fire everyday changes that.

Lastly, having a fresh wind from the Holy Spirit allows you to be what God has called you to be, the salt and light on the earth. We have been appointed by the Lord to represent His kingdom on this earth and bring change by proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. We do not conform to our surroundings but transform our societies by being the salt ( Matthew 5:13)and light ( Matthew 5:14).

Prayer

Dear Lord,

I want to be where you want me to be. I desire to burn for you, oh Lord. So I ask that you give me a fresh fire oh Lord. I ask for a fresh outpour of the Holy Ghost in my life. Spirit of God, fill me up until I overflow. I want to be what you have called me to be, dear Lord. In Jesus’ name

Amen.

See you next time❤️!

the surrendered child

Some months ago, I wrote a post on how our posture before the Lord eventually determines how our relationship with Him will turn out.

As a Christian, the best place to be is at the feet of the Lord.

When we find ourselves at the feet of the Lord, we are pushed to worship because we see a glimpse of His beauty. We are pushed to worship because we stand in awe of His magnificence. Being at His feet humbles us because we understand how big He is and how small we are. Being at His feet allows us to appreciate His greatness more and pushes us to praise Him (because such a big God is fully invested in our personal lives and daily affairs). Additionally, when at His feet, we are blessed with direct revelations from the Lord concerning our lives and those around us.

Sitting at the feet of Jesus is synonymous to spending quality time with the Lord. Sitting at His feet isn’t a rushed process but one that requires all your attention. We must intentionally make time to spend time in this secret place where we humble ourselves and allow the Spirit of God to lead us into that place of intimacy.

Spending your time with Jesus is the best thing you could ever do for yourself.

I pray that we’ll be like Mary in Luke 10:38-39 ( TPT)

“As Jesus and the disciples continued on their journey, they came to a village where a woman welcomed Jesus into her home. Her name was Martha and she had a sister named Mary. Mary sat down attentively before the Master, absorbing every revelation he shared.”
