the surrendered child

This narrative of “ live for yourself, prioritise yourself” is the exact opposite of what the Lord planned. Human beings have convinced themselves that they are their own gods. We have managed to deceive ourselves that we have it all under control but if that was the case the pandemic wouldn’t have turned out the way it did. We didn’t even create ourselves, we don’t even have control of what is going to happen in the next second but we think we can run our own lives. The devil has managed to make this world darker, allowing more people to stumble and unable to see the horrendous end they face because of their lifestyles. I usually try to be as positive as possible but I won’t be quiet when the devil is making us do the very things Paul tells us not to do in Galatians 5:16 ( gratifying the desires of the flesh). We no longer care about how the Holy Spirit may feel about our actions but as long as we are happy and mentally stable, everything’s fine.

Since when was that a thing?

We have become so desensitised to the Spirit of God that even when our actions and thoughts grieve Him deeply, we don’t know. Lord, have mercy.

You should not live for yourself. Live for Jesus Christ. Pick up your cross daily and surrender yourself to Him. Allow the Spirit of God to live through you.

Have a lovely day!

John 1:38a(NKJV)

"Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?”"

Kindly read John 1:35-38 to understand why this question was asked. ( click me to read!)

The first words of the Messiah recorded in the Gospels:

“What do you seek?”

  • What do you genuinely want from the Lord?

  • What do you sincerely desire from God?

These are questions we must ask ourselves.

This is why I follow Jesus.

I follow Him because I just want to be with Him. In His presence, I feel at home. At His feet is where I belong. He blesses me materialistically, He heals me and delivers me but those are not the main reasons I remain in Him. I just want Him. My heart beats for His glory and having communion with Him brings me true peace and joy. My desire is to love Him more and more and this desire has only been given to me by the Helper, the precious Holy Spirit. He places within me a hunger that can only be satisfied by the Lord Himself. He is the hunger and the food. I am a lover of Christ , a part of His beautiful bride and nothing will ever change that. Before all other titles bestowed upon me, I am a person who stands in awe of the Lord and longs for Him to be praised by all creation.

My eyes are fixed on Jesus and so should yours. Follow Jesus because you want to be with Him, in solitude, in that place of intimacy and communion. We are often in a rush when it comes to relating with God. It’s as though we are in a give and take relationship, whereby He relieves you of anxiety so you pray an extra 5 minutes. But that shouldn’t be. You must spend time with Him even when nothing interesting is going on. Create a space where you and Him are just fellowshipping. Be still in His presence and watch Him reveal Himself to you and love you. God wants to be intimate with you so give Him space to do so and your life will never be the same.

Have a lovely day❤️

John 1:35-38

35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. 36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!”

37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?”

They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “where are You staying?”

Jesus’ return is very soon. Some people might stop reading this knowing that the post is centred on the second coming of Christ because it’s “a scary” topic.

Nevertheless, I have a few questions.

  • What’s so scary about the world ending?

  • What’s so frightening about rapture and Jesus’ glorious return?

The return of Christ should be the happiest day for someone who lives for Him because you’re meeting your first love and, as a member of the church, you are meeting your bridegroom ( John 3:29 TPT). It should be the day we wait for expectantly.

But that isn’t the case.

And the simple reason for this is because we really don’t know who we are going to meet. We are primarily scared of Christ’s coming because we don’t know if we’ll make it. This is because we don’t genuinely have a personal relationship with Jesus. Because if Jesus was truly a friend, we would be ecstatic about His return.

Another reason could be because we are frightened for those who don’t know the Lord and we watch them settle in their life of sin, instead of helping them get onto the path of righteousness.

These two issues root from fear. However, God says that He has not given us a spirit of fear ( 2 Timothy 1:7). To eliminate fear, we must learn to love Jesus. Once we fall in love with Jesus, our hearts will yearn to be at His feet and we will desire to be seated with Him in the heavenly places.

Jesus Christ came to save us from the wrath of God. Once you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour, you are saved. You become aware of the love God has for you and this pushes you to obey Him and ultimately carry your cross, neglecting all earthly desires. With this, you also learn to love the Lord Jesus more and wait expectantly for His glorious return.

So if you have this fear, I sincerely pray that Jesus will reveal Himself to you and that you would give Him the opportunity to do so. I pray that you fall in love with Jesus Christ and that your heart would wait eagerly for His majestic return❤️.
