I need all of your attention! At this moment, remove every distraction and use two minutes to read these important words.....

Romans 5:8 TPT

💥 But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!

Isaiah 53:5 KJV

💥 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed

What Jesus did for you and I was a serious task! Sometimes we take the Easter celebration as an annual ritual that must be celebrated. But NO! That is not the case. In this season

\we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ

\we remember the ultimate sacrifice of the righteous lamb

\we recall the day the fate of humanity changed

\we remind ourselves of the reckless, selfless love of God, that while we were still sinners, Christ still died for us

\we call to mind the fact that Christ drank the cup of God’s wrath for our sake

Christ died aware of the fact that not everyone would give their lives to Him. Christ died knowing that people would ridicule Him and take His sacrifice lightly. Christ died knowing all these but He still endured. He did this because He knew it was the Father’s will. He understood the depth to which God, the Father, loved His creation ( John 3:16).

Paraphrased John 3:16

For God so loved the world ( people drowning in sin and blindly following the foot steps of the devil), that He sent His one and only son ( His precious child) that whoever ( regardless of race, past offences, past beliefs) believes in Him ( understands the power behind His sacrifice and accepts Him as Lord and personal saviour) shall not perish ( be consumed by the eternal fire and be eternally separated from God) but have everlasting life ( eternal communion with God).

Let’s celebrate this season understanding the ultimate sacrifice. A man died in your place so that you may have life! Don’t take this lightly! Jesus drank the cup of God’s wrath so that you may not suffer! Celebrating Easter reminds me of the reason I gave my all to Jesus! He went above and beyond for me! Give your all to Jesus because He died that you may have eternal life and freedom!( say prayer on ⬆️this page, if you desire to give your life to Christ)

Also, remember death has been defeated! Our King conquered death!

Revelation 1:18 “ I am He that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of hell and of death.”

A chosen vessel

I’ve realised that as humans, in general, we like practical steps to overcome our issues. For example, if you want to get better grades, study hard, join study groups and cut off social media for a while.

But Christianity doesn’t really go like that.

Yeah I know,

if you want to grow you have to read your Bible and pray everyday

but there’s always some spontaneity with the Holy Spirit! He’s always switching things up a bit. Even Jesus, in the Gospels, healed multiple people and cast out many demons but they all happened in a different way. I strongly believe that the reason God works in varied ways is because it allows us to know that the power is from Him. If we follow a process of healing or whatever and it always works out, we will start to believe that the power is in the process but the process is only a resource for the source ( God) to display His power!

All I’m trying to say quickly is that I’m not going to give you a “ step by step guide to not be lukewarm” but I’m going to provide you with essential tips that will make you stop being lukewarm. However please bear in mind the spontaneous nature of the Holy Ghost😉!

First and foremost, join a fellowship and/or church. If you’re already in one, take it seriously!

Hebrews 10:25

Go for the prayer meetings, actively participate in Bible study. Doing this proves your faithfulness to God and allows you to unravel the nature of the God you’re serving!

Secondly, develop a personal prayer life.

Mark 6:46

It’s good to attend prayer meetings and all but the Lord seeks intimacy with all His children and He desires moments when it’s just you and Him. Jesus left to be in solitude with the Lord because He understood the importance of personal communion with the Almighty God. Additionally, developing a personal prayer life makes you dependent on the Holy Spirit only and not your cell leader or prayer partner. To add, when you’re alone with the Lord, it allows you to be vulnerable before Him and allows Him to work on your heart.

Thirdly, spend more time listening to Christian music.

Colossians 3:16

If you’re like me and you’re always always listening to music try and listen to Christian songs.

Remember it’s not really about cutting this off and cutting that off but it’s fundamentally about seeking the face of God! Instead of counting the number of days you don’t listen to secular music, listen to more gospel music.

Lastly, feed your eyes and ears Christian content!

Matthew 6:22-23, Psalm 101:2-4, 1 Corinthians 10:31

One good step you’ve already taken is reading this message, so well done👏🏾! But watch more sermons or Christian interviews with powerful men and women of God. Follow your favourite worship leaders on instagram and twitter. Follow Christian content creators ( shoutout to my brethren from @selah.ministry on Instagram). Listen to podcasts! I lowkey feel like podcasts are underrated but they are definitely top tier for me! Some podcasts I love to listen to are

  1. Of course, my big man of God, Apostle Joshua Selman

  2. No one other than, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills

  3. The 29:11 podcast ( these guys are funnyyy, lol or maybe my sense of humour is poor)

If you want recommendations on what to feed yourself, check out " take a look"

Hope these few tips ameliorate your Christian journey! We are not called to be lukewarm Christians but men and women of God who are on fire for Jesus, who desire to burn crazily for the Lord🔥. Let's cancel lukewarm culture in our lives!

^Revelation 3:15-16 - I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

^Titus 1:16 - They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

^Matthew 7:21-23 - "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

^Luke 6:46 - "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?

A lukewarm Christian is someone who claims to believe in God and has accepted Jesus Christ as their savior but lives contrary to this proclamation

A lukewarm Christian is someone who has moments with Jesus but has failed to surrender their life completely to Him

A lukewarm Christian is afraid of God and does not fear Him in reverence

A lukewarm Christian is someone who loves the things of the world so cannot really desire fellowship with Jesus, moreover, is unsure of their eternal destination ( when this world ends)

A lukewarm Christian may have the gifts of the Spirit but does not put it use because they’re either terrified of the Lord ( like the servant given 1 talent in Mathew 25:14-30) or shy to use what the Lord has given them

A lukewarm Christian does not have the Holy Spirit living in and through them

A lukewarm Christian does not bear the fruit of the Spirit and is disconnected from Christ therefore is bound to be cut off from the Lord and thrown into eternal fire ( John 15:5-6)

A lukewarm Christian does not know the mysteries of God because the Holy Spirit has not revealed it to them because they have not given Him , the Holy Spirit, space to manifest Himself

A lukewarm Christian does not allow the Lord to show them the way as He says in Isaiah 30:21 but allows the god of this world, the devil, and his cohorts to manipulate them.

Now, some people may not see the problem with being lukewarm because , after all, I have given my life to Jesus and God has given me free will.

But look carefully at Matthew 7:21-23 and John 15:5-6. When you’re lukewarm Jesus doesn’t know you! You claim to know Him but He has no idea who you are because you fail to fellowship with Him!

I can confidently say that the Holy Spirit has helped me leave camp lukewarm (shoutout to Montell Fish) and has led me to totally surrender my life to Jesus. Coming from someone who was the definition of a lukewarm Christian, I now ask these questions to myself:

^Was it worth it?

^After all that you’ve heard the Lord has done for you, why break His heart one more time by not making an effort to leave the things of this world?

If you’re reading this and ticking boxes to see whether you fall under the category of a lukewarm Christian then you probably are. But no need to fear because today is the day of salvation🎉!

^Be honest with the Lord

^Tell Him that you’re sorry for not completely surrendering to Him

^Ask the Holy Spirit to come dwell in your heart

Find a fellowship or a group of Christian brothers and sisters who are madly in love with Jesus and spend time with them. Open up to them about your struggles with this world and its desires and the Holy Spirit will definitely use them to help you❤️

And remember He wants you to come home!

Come back next week for part 2 :)
