desperation
How desperate are you? Do you really desire what you say desire?
A lot of Christians are no longer desperate when it comes to prayer. We have this lax attitude when we are praying. There is no fervency, there is no desperation. We don’t see ‘Bible-like’ miracles commonly because we lack desperation. Desperation bridges the gap between a dream and a physical manifestation. Desperation opens the door of divine possibilities.
Desperation is an essential ingredient in growing spiritually because desperation will always lead to sacrifice.
People who are desperate are not scared to forgo some things. Desperation will drive men and women to their knees, in any situation. I need us to understand that when it comes to prayer, you must be desperate. Desperation is what causes your inner man to groan and yearn for the kingdom of God to come on earth. You just need to make sure that you are desperate for what God desires and that is for His will to be done on earth. His will is clearly stated in His Word.
One of my favourite Bible stories is about a man whose desperation changed his life forever. Let me introduce or reintroduce you to blind Bartimaeus. His condition was so serious that he was identified by his infirmity. But desperation changed his story. Blind Bartimaeus heard that Christ was passing by where he sat to beg. Despite this large crowd and the multiple people bidding for Christ’s attention, Bartimaeus pushed. His desperation pushed him out of his comfort zone and eventually, he met Christ and was healed. Mark 10:46-52
The power is available to change your life but if you are not desperate, your situation will not change. Desperation pushes you to spend more time in prayer, more time studying, and more time building your skill set. Desperation is your key to elevation. Those who remain desperate to see results actually attain good results. I need us to be desperate about the right things and our lives will change. Let people talk and say you’re doing too much. When you get your results, they will be the same people to ask how you did it. Be desperate, do not suppress that hunger you have for success and elevation. It is there for a reason so you might as well feed it. In the place of prayer, ask God to make you desperate. Only desperate people are persistent and James teaches us that the fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much (James 5:16b).
