Spiritual investments
Why chase after the never-ending desires of your flesh and neglect building a relationship with God? “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;” (Matthew 6:19).
The “harsh” reality is that one day, we will all be a memory to others. Physical contact will cease because we would have clocked out from our physical bodies. I say “harsh” because, as a born again believer who is living solely for the Lord Jesus Christ, harsh would definitely be the incorrect term to describe the joy of meeting your personal savior.
Let’s get back on track. The point I am simply making here is that all the things we earnestly and diligently strive to attain on the earth will hold no value after we leave the earth. The only thing that we do on earth that will account for much more than we can imagine is our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
We need to make spiritual investments. Everyone understands that sowing a seed will hopefully reap a harvest. Seeds, in the kingdom, are elements of sacrifice such as money and time. We do not sow a seed with the hope of it just laying in the ground, serving as a form of decorative piece. No. We sow because we desire to see fruits, a harvest but these only appear when the seed is sown. In Galatians 6:9, we are taught that in due season, we will reap a harvest if we do not lose heart. Sowing and reaping are simple laws of engagement and I sincerely pray that we will start to see things beyond this life and become eternity-minded and even, legacy-minded. Your commitment to the Lord today can cause the goodness of God to follow many generations after you.
